Question from yvonne on 12/7/2005:

Hi Father, I pray the rosary on an everyday basis, but most of the time get distracted. I ask the Blessed Mother every day to help me pray to her a perfect rosary without distraction, but most times don't receive what I am asking. In your opinion, is there a good reason why the Virgin Mary may not want to help me with this, since what I am asking can only be beneficial for my soul? Thank you very much for your advice! Yvonne

Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 12/9/2005:

No, Yvonne, you are as human as the next person, and he is distracted at prayers too. And so am I! Once you decide you are going to pray the Rosary, take a few minutes before you start - place yourself in the divine Presence, calm down, get comfortable either kneeling or sitting in an easy chair, and then, peacefully and quietly recite the Hail Mary's as you contemplate the individual Mysteries of the Rosary. If distractions come, (and they will), ignore them as a horse ignores the flies in summer which bite him. Keep calm and quiet. You have offered a beautiful Rosary which pleases Jesus and His Mother, never doubt it. God bless you. Fr. Bob Levis
